About this blog

Having severely neglected my travel blog in the months since I stopped travelling and started – well – just living life in a place that isn’t my original home, I thought it must be time to start a real blog about general stuff rather than my colourful travel experiences. I’d hate to say that the change of pace instead makes this a blog about my colourless living experiences, so I at least gave it a colourful title.

In fact, a multitude of wonderful things happen on a fairly frequent basis which make me eternally thankful that I took the steps I did and headed off into the unknown with my backpack on my back. Parrots on the power lines, and in the trees over the road, and just generally around in greater quantity than they were in, say, Old Trafford, my last place of residence, are one of those things. There are many others, in many ways just as colourful, that I hope to be able to share as this blog grows.

About me

I set off to Mexico with a year’s return ticket in my pocket and a dream in my heart. The dream has already come true, I cancelled the return part of the ticket and I’m still going strong. Since I left England’s green and pleasant land in the autumn of 2010, I’ve had some of the best and worst experiences of my life. I’ve travelled through and around 18 countries and counting; I’ve requalified and started on the path to a whole new career; I’ve found love, been river rafting and learned how to play poker. Lots of these experiences have been fun, so I’d like to share them with friends and family who care, and anyone who’s ever thought, “I wonder what would happen if I could just slip on my backpack and slip out the door.”

    Hey, Parrot on the PL,

I want to say thanks for following me at http://www.oldspouse.wordpress.com.

I have to throw in here that if you enjoy my “This Old Spouse” column, I think you’re gonna love this:

    http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/354657

It’s a terrifying story called The Oklo Device.

At the bottom of the smashwords page you’ll see a link labeled “View” and other download options for mobile readers under reading formats. Take a look at the story; see if you get hooked. If you like the story, please share with others. This is the only way good things happen today–agents and publishers are of the dinosaur era. They’re slow; they’re frightened; and they’ll eat you if you’re not careful. We’re on our own. I truly believe in this book. If you do, too, share it with someone. Thank you!

And thank you so much, again, for being one of the faithful.

    Best regards,

    Roger White

Now, now Hannah me old China… you’ve whet my appetite; don’t tantalise my taste-buds and leave me wanting more despite that old theatrical adage, I want more but want my appetite sated and soon! Great to hear from you again and can’t wait to see you in the Summer! xXx
